Entrevista a Alexander / Interview to Alexander

Hace unos dos años descubrí a Alexander , una banda inglesa, y desde entonces no dejo de escucharlos. Y os los quiero presentar ahora que están sacando música nueva, como su último single "Four A.M.", y que se acerca su gira inglesa. Su vocalista, Anth, ha sido quien ha respondido a las preguntas, contándonos algunas cosas sobre el grupo.

1-Para aquellos que no conozcan la banda: ¡Introducíos!

Somos Alexander y somos una banda de alt/pop del noreste de Inglaterra.

Nuestra música es divertida, optimista, nostágica ¡y cualquier otro adjetivo positivo que puedas pensar!

2-Algo curioso sobre las bandas es su nombre así que, ¿Por qué Alexander? ¿De dónde viene?

Elegimos Alexander porque suena de forma potente y la idea de un nombre (persona) respresentándonos a todos fue una gran razón para hacerlo.

3-Me gustaría preguntar sobre el proceso de escritura y composición, ¿Cómo soléis escribir las canciones? ¿Cuál es vuestra inspiración?

Con cada canción es verdaderamente diferente, ¡lo cual es bueno!

Puede ser una idea proveniente de una melodía de guitarra, una pequeña idea en el estudio de grabación, un ritmo ¡o cualquier cosa!

Nos gusta mantenerlo de forma orgánica sin forzar la música.

4-¿Hay alguna persona viva o muerta con la que os gustaría escribir una canción?

¡Claro que hay algunas! Feddie Mercury se encuentra probablemente al incio de mi lista pero ¡me sientiría tonto intentando escribir con un compositor tan increíble sin embargo! Además están MJ, Withney, Buckley, Cobain, ¡cualquiera que digas!

5-El último vídeo que habéis sacado es 4 A.M. y tiene un estilo antiguo, ¿Quién tuvo la idea para el vídeo? ¿Fue divertido grabarlo?

El vídeo fue una creación del maravilloso Jamie Korn (Loveisart).

Él realmente consiguió nuestro ambiente nostálgico de los 90 y lo llevó a la vida en el vídeo.

Fue muy divertido grabarlo ¡cómo se puede apreciar! Todos nosotros estamos muy locos en el fondo.

6-Ahora hablemos de vuestras canciones y vídeos antiguos además de los últimos, ¿Qué canción os gusta más? ¿De qué vídeo tenéis el mejor recuerdo?

¡Es muy difícil de decir! Creo que todos tenemos nuestra canción y vídeo favorito. Para mí el vídeo de Drive fue muy especial porque se trataba del primer vídeo y visualización de las nuevas canciones. ¡Sin embargo todos tienen un lugar especial!

7-No preguntaré sobre música futura, sé que siempre tenéis algo nueva de vez en cuando, pero dentro de nada volvéis a estar de gira, ¿Estáis emocionados? ¿Qué canción tenéis más ganas de tocar en vivo?

Estoy más que emocionado por esta gira. Es la más grande en cuanto hasta la fecha y ¡resultaría ridículo no estar emocionado!

Las nuevas canciones en las que estamos trabajando al momento son probablemente ¡las que tengo más ganas de tocar! Pero tengo el presentimiento de que Four A.M. va a ser muy divertida de tocar en directo.

A couple of years ago I discovered Alexander, an English band, ever since I haven't stopped listening to them. I would like to introduce them to you now that they are releasing new music, like their last single 'Four A.M.', and they have an upcoming English tour. The lead man, Anth, is the one who has answered the questions, telling us some things about the band.

1- For those who may not know the band: Introduce yourselves!

We are Alexander and we are an alt/pop band from the north east of England.

Our music is fun, optimistic, nostalgic and any other positive adjectives you can think of!

2- A curious thing about bands is their names so, why Alexander? Where does it come from?

We chose Alexander because of how strong it sounds and the idea of one name (person) representing us all was a big reason why we chose it.

3- I’d like to ask you about your writing and composition process, how do you usually write them and, what is the inspiration for them?

Every song is written differently really, which is a good thing!

It might be and idea from a guitar riff, a little studio idea, a tempo feel or anything!

We like to keep it organic without forcing music out.

4- Is there any person alive or dead that you would like to write a song with?

There's a few of course! Freddie Mercury is probably at the top of my list but I'd feel silly trying to write with such an incredible composer though! Then there's MJ, Whitney, Buckley, Cobain..you name it!

5- The last music video you released is 4 A.M. and it’s old style, who had the idea for the video? Was it fun to record?

The video was a brain child of the wonderful Jamie Korn (Lovevisart)

He really got our nostalgic 90's vibe and brought it to life in the video!

It was so fun to record as you can probably tell! We are all just dafties at heart.

6- Now talking about your old songs and videos plus this last realease, what song do you

like the most? and from what video do you have the best memory?

It's hard to say really! Think we all have our favourite tracks/videos. For me the Drive video was pretty special as it was our first video and display of our new tracks to come. They all have a place though!

7- I won’t ask about future music, I know you are always up with something new from

time to time but there is a tour coming up soon so, are you excited? Which song are you looking forward to playing live?

I'm beyond exited for this tour. It's the biggest tour up to date venue and turn out wise so to not be excited would be ridiculous!

The newest songs we are working on in the studio at the moment are probably what I'm excited to showcase most! But I have a feeling Four A.M is going to be really fun live!
